EC Mazur is a multidisciplinary artist based in Toronto, Canada. Seeking the Sun is her first collection of poetry, chronicling her experience of depression and the exploration of the Canadian wilderness that allowed her to heal. Following the life cycle of wildflowers, the book draws parallels between the struggle for wellness and a seedling’s path to sunlight. Rich with nature imagery and peppered with pen and ink illustrations, the collection is organized into three sections, Buried, Growing, and Blooming - each exemplifying a different stage of recovery. From the moth’s envy of the butterfly to the discernment of a moulting snake, Seeking the Sun details the insight of nature: the lessons, both bitter and beautiful, fostering a new-found will to live.

The size is 5”x7” and is 120 pages.

About the artist:

Ella is a Toronto-based artist and illustrator who works mainly with pen and ink. Her art is inspired by the magic all around her, in the details of nature and people. The great diversity of our planet, the graceful and bizarre creatures and plants that inhabit it, the endless depths of the ocean waves, the enchantment of the forests, and the mysteries of the stars in the sky all serve to create new worlds that she hopes will awaken the imagination of the viewer and remind them that there is beauty all around them.
